Kings acquire C Halpern, F Modin (AP)
The Los Angeles Kings have acquired veteran center Jeff Halpern and forward Fredrik Modin to help their push toward their first playoff spot since 2002. Halpern was acquired Wednesday from the Tampa Bay Lightning in a trade for center Teddy Purcell and a third-round pick in the upcoming draft. The Maple Leafs have claimed forward Jamie Lundmark off waivers from the Calgary Flames, reuniting him with Dion Phaneuf in Toronto. Lundmark played in 21 games with Calgary this season, with four goals and five assists. He also had 21 points in 32 games with the Abbotsford Heat in the AHL. Stars claim Kings' Segal, put Ott on IR (AP)
The Dallas Stars have claimed forward Brandon Segal off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings. Segal was added to the roster Thursday and center Steve Ott was placed on the injured list.
